Appa deserves more! Doesn't he??!!
A week to Father's day and I was reminded of all the sacrifices and hardships Dads face to keep our families happy! The MAN of the house but always last in his priority list!
If mom is the lifeline of the family, Dad is the heartbeat that keeps the lifeline happy! Many a times, I have seen my appa counting even a single penny and saving it in his treasured iron box. Flood, storm, rain, Scorching sun, whatever it may be, He would never take off. There have been days he used to walk down 7 Kms to go to his office due to non availability of public transport. What felt shameful then, feels heavy on the heart now! Every single action had happiness of the family as the motto. Nothing more, nothing less!
I don't remember a single day Appa would have sat and discussed his problems to us! Not a day he would indulge in the costliest of dresses for him. Nor a day, he would take a cab to go to his office.
Looking around the world is filled with only such Dads! Dads who suffer silently to keep the family happy. Dads who make ends meet silently taking all the abuses in office. Dads who walk an extra mile to save that small money which might come to use later during rainy days. Dads who come across as strict officers with sons, but silently slip those extra hundreds in their son's pockets! Dads who silently enjoy their son's success but don't express it!

Throughout their life, they have shouldered the burden of the entire family, their siblings, their parents and everyone in their heart but have never expressed how hard it is!
With the pandemic around, Its been very tough on the elder generation! Most of them locked inside for fear of getting infected. Most of them having to change their schedules and stay indoors. That's when it stuck, Let me do something to make Father's day special this year!
I had initiated this concept of " Gift a Meal" years back. The kids choose a customized meal pack that has the favorite dishes of their parents/ friends and we make it and deliver the meal on the special day!
Lets get this done, this year. Food can make the most emotional connect ever! It could be your dad's most favorite Vathalkozhambu rice with appalam or the Sambar idlis or the butter laden Aaloo parathas or the ghee dripping badam halwa!
