Appa deserves more! Doesn't he??!!

A week to Father's day and I was reminded of all the sacrifices and hardships Dads face to keep our families happy! The MAN of the house but always last in his priority list!  If mom is the lifeline of the family, Dad is the heartbeat that keeps the lifeline happy! Many a times, I have seen my appa counting even a single penny and saving it in his treasured iron box. Flood, storm, rain, Scorching sun, whatever it may be, He would never take off. There have been days he used to walk down 7 Kms to go to his office due to non availability of public transport. What felt shameful then, feels heavy on the heart now! Every single action had happiness of the family as the motto. Nothing more, nothing less!  I don't remember a single day Appa would have sat and discussed his problems to us! Not a day he would indulge in the costliest of dresses for him. Nor a day, he would take a cab to go to his office.  Looking around the world is filled with only such Dads! Dads who suffer sile...

Udupi- The land of Food, Food and Food!!!

Hailing from Udupi and with genes of forefathers who were hoteliers, there was nothing surprising when I decided to choose food! Absolutely blessed to be born in a land that speaks of its rich tradition of Food and considers Anna Dhana as the biggest dhaana!  When we people go looking for houses, the first thing we observe is the size of the hall/ drawing room! And we calculate how many people can be seated for lunch during our functions! That decides if we want to continue looking at the other rooms or not! That's our connect to food and anna dhaana! Back to Mangaluru! The rich color of the Byadgis, the home grown coconuts, the carefully harvested Coriander seeds, the local fresh veggies from the local fields, the aroma of coconut oil, the nice blend of tamarind and Jaggery! Passion or Money!??

As most of you know, the Journey of Roora's flavours started when I chose to quit my high paying corporate job to pursue my passion for food! My vision is simple! Delivering high quality home made food bundled with emotions! There are no shortcuts to this, come what may! In July 2019, when I soft launched the brand on FB, little did I realise I was going to be flooded with so many well wishers and customers who would trust me with their orders for food! More than food, I am blessed to be a mediator of carrying their emotions through my food!  Daughters who order their parent's favorite food, Daughters in Law who check from me if I could deliver food for their ailing in laws, Sons who message me checking if I could quickly visit their parents and deliver some ready mixes!
